The tonal difference between a wooden lip flute headjoint and a metal headjoint can be quite significant.

 

Wooden headjoints are known for their warm and rich tone, as well as their ability to produce a wide range of expressiveness and dynamic range. This is due in part to the porous nature of wood, which allows for a more complex and nuanced sound to be produced.
